Today was all about answering this question!

It was hard work getting out all of the seeds from our pumpkins. Once we had our seeds we had to decide how to organize our pumpkin seeds. Some of us counted by 5's and some by 10's.

Today we read another book all about Diwali! We used what we learned from this book and other books last week. As a class we wrote a plan for our non fiction writing about Diwali. Then we each did our own writing.

Then the rest of the day was all about pumpkin math. First we estimated the weight, height, circumference, and number of seeds. Then we measured the height and circumference using centimetres and the non standard units that were blocks.

This week we explored how are body signals our brains to tell us how we are feeling. We can use those signals to understand which zone we are in.

Today we reviewed when y behaves as a vowel. It is a long i when is it at the end of a one syllable word such as why and a long e when it is at the end of a word that has more than one syllable such as happy.

Reminders:
-no school Friday
-apple pick up from 2-4 on Friday

Today we sketched out unique pumpkins. We closely looked at our pumpkins and to sketch all of their details. Then we labelled the different parts of our pumpkin.

We planned a fiction story about a pumpkin. First we listened to a story and then we brainstormed in small groups ideas for our own story about a pumpkin. Then we planned our story using pictures and/or words. Tomorrow we will use our plans to write!
