May 28th

 Today we learned about acrostic poems. They are poems the first letter of each line spells out a word or phrase. We looked at some examples and then created our own acrostic poem about spring. Then some of us shared our poems in a poetry circle. 

In gym we continued to work on our gymnastic skills.

This week we have been working hard on our Earth Museum. Each museum has to have two landforms, two bodies of water, and two animals. We are close to being ready to present!

May 27th

Today we continues to explore measurement by using metre sticks to measure. First we estimated how many centimetres we thought an object was and then we recorded our measurement. 

We also continued to practice all of the sounds we learned yesterday by writing sentences, sorting by sound and sorting by pattern.

May 26th

 Today we learned about some less common sounds. 

Such as ch can make /sh/ like in chute.

When gn are together the g is silent.

When gh are together the h is silent. 

T is silent when it has -sten or -stle and sometimes even when there is no s. 

Then we practiced measuring using centimetres. 

We also went outside and measured in ways inspired be Indigenous people using our steps are the length of an object found in nature.

May 22nd

Today we continued our exploration of measurement. We measured a variety of items using a non standard unit of measurement such as a cube. Before we measured we made an estimate and then recorded the data in our notebooks. 

Today we also finished writing our stories!

May 20th

Today was a busy day! In gym we started gymnastics! We practiced different ways to move and forward rolls. 

In Math we practiced interpreting graphs by answering different questions about the graph.

We are in the process of writing another story. Today we worked on our beginning.
