Nov. 27th

 Today we read the book "In My Heart." 

After listening to the story we made connections to the feelings in the story. 

We shared our connections with a classmate.

Then we wrote about the part of the story we connected to and described our connection with details.

In math we continued practicing representing numbers in more than one way using base ten blocks. Some of us challenged ourselves by using three digit numbers!

Nov. 26th

SoundKreation is in full swing! Everyone is doing amazing learning new dance moves and a routine. Ask me to show some of my moves!

Today we worked on representing numbers using base ten blocks in more than one way. We regrouped tens into ones. Take a look below.

We also worked together to create three digit numbers using place value chips. We showed amazing teamwork!

Nov. 25th

Today we played Race to 100. In partners we tried to be the first one to make 100 with our base ten blocks. We rolled a ten sided dice and that was how many ones we added to our number. When we had ten or more ones we had to regroup ten ones into one ten. Once we had ten ones we regrouped into 100 and won the game! At the end of each turn we had to say our number. 

We learned about the three different ways to pronounce -ed. Ask me to tell you about the three different ways and how I know which one to use!

Nov. 22nd

 Today we read the The Giving Tree A Metis Story. The illustrations used dot art. We then drew our own tree and created a piece of art inspired by the book.

Our Parent/Teacher/Student Learning Conferences will be in person at Northern Lights School on November 28 and 29. We ask all families to make time to attend this important conference where teachers will be discussing learning progress to this point in the year. Conferences will be 15-minutes in length for students in Kindergarten to Grade 5. 

Families will have received an email on November 15 letting them know that they are open for booking now. Once open, parents and guardians must book their own conference time through their MyCBE parent account. (Please use a computer or laptop, not a Smart phone to access your MyCBE account if you are having difficulties.) 

Conference Dates: 

November 28:  4:30 pm - 8:00 pm 

November 29: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm

Nov. 20th

Today we explored properties of different materials. 

Does it absorb water?

Can it be shaped?

Does light pass through it?

And our last centre was Does it reflect light?

In Math we practiced writing three digit numbers using words.

Another part of our busy day was finishing our writing about the tapestry that contained a variety of patterns.
